Living the born-again Christian life

God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth. John 4:24

Living the born again life

Most religions try to fix the old nature. The fallen nature that is separated from God. However, the bible tells us that our righteousness is as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). If it were possible for man to earn salvation through living a good life, Jesus would not have died for our sins.

The bible tells us that all we like sheep have gone astray we have turned everyone to his own way and God has laid on Him the iniquity (sins) of us all (Isaiah 53:6). We read in the Old Testament of the sacrifice of animals for the covering of sins. This was a foreshadowing of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. It was not possible for the sacrifice of bulls and goats to give man a new birth experience, but it allowed God to not impute man’s sin to him.

John 3:3 “Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’

Until a person is born-again, they not only cannot enter the kingdom of God, they are not even able to see it. The unsaved world is unaware of the “church” which is made up of born-again believers. Before I became born-again, I heard a lot of scriptures, but I did not have a personal relationship with Christ. I did not have the Holy Spirit. John 10:9- I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

The thief is satan. His mission is to steal, kill and destroy. He is the source of evil in the world and works against everything that God stands for. Jesus triumphed over satan when He rose from the grave. Satan’s power over the earth is no more. This is why born-again believers can cast him out, bind him, rebuke him and most of all, do not have to yield to his deception.

We become born again when we admit that we are sinners, ask Jesus to forgive us of our sins and to come into our hearts. It is that easy. We should also tell someone of our decision to accept Christ. This not only solidifies our decision, but the scripture says that confession is made unto salvation.

Once we are born again, we begin to understand the scriptures that are spiritually discerned. We are able to hear from God through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. We are empowered to resist the devil and have him flee from us. We will have the power to resist sin. We can speak with authority to create things we want to have occur in the natural world. We will become a “new creation”. A new type of human who has the Spirit of God dwelling in them.
