Where Is Your Memorial?

When God stopped the flow of the Jordan and the children of Israel crossed the river on dry ground, they were commanded to pick up stones from the riverbed and set them up as a memorial (Jos. 3 & 4). No one, including the unborn generation, was to forget this incredible miracle that the Lord wrought. God is still in the business of carving paths for His children today, but the problem is that we do not set up memorials to remind us. We quickly forget what God has done, and no monument is erected to show our children the evidence of God’s work in our lives. Is it any wonder today that many children have no desire to know and draw close to the God that we claim is important in our lives? Where is the evidence? Digital pictures, video clips, and memos are all suitable memorials, but our lives lived by the Word of God and led by the Spirit of God are the best. Are our lives living memorials? This Saturday, January 25, I, Sunday Bwanhot, will celebrate 50 years since I rededicated my life to Christ, and the living monument that I am is all by the grace of God.
