Pray For The Persecuted Christians in Nigeria

by

ECWA PraysWhen: Friday, January 31 to Sunday, February 2, 2020

Calling All Christians everywhere to Join in The Declared Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Special Days of Prayer, Fasting and Prayer Walk for Nigeria on Friday, January 31 to Sunday, February 2, 2020.

Our very existence as Christians in our dear Nation Nigeria has never been at stake as it is now. It is very clear that the spirit of Haman, whose avowed aim is the complete extermination of Christians, is viciously at work in this nation and the Government. Esther 3:8-9. Our CAN National Leader, His Eminence Rev. Dr. Samson Ayokunle, made this very clear enough, during his World Press Conference on January 23, 2020.

Christians have been rendered powerless and helpless in this nation. Like during the time of Nehemiah, we are in trouble and disgrace. Nehemiah 2:17. Our only hope now of deliverance from complete extermination is the help from above, the Maker of heaven and earth, from the God of Israel, who neither slumbers nor sleep. Psalm 121

Though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

Let all Christians from around the world including ECWA Sons and Daughters join faith together with Brethren from all over this nation and all over the world, to plead with God to have mercy on us and intervene to deliver us and Nigeria, and tum the tables against enemies of the Cross and God’ s people. Esther 9:24

On the first Day of our prayer and fasting·, let us like the Ninevites in Jonah 3, name, confess and repent of our many sins without making any excuse. As it is written, “Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly. Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring together the elders, gather the children, those nursing at the breast, let the bridegroom leave his room and the bride her chamber. Let the priests, who minister before the LORD, weep between the temple porch and the altar let them say, ‘Spare your people, O LORD. Do not make your inheritance an object of scorn, a byword among the nations. Why should they say among the, peoples,’ Where is their God?”. Joel 2:15-17. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18. “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” Psalm 51:17

On the second day of our Prayer and Fasting, let us all plead with God to baptize us with His holy fire, that we shall be sanctified vessels of honor. Also pray that He would pour out upon us the latter rain of His Holy Spirit, for a mighty revival, so that we can call upon Him and worship Him in spirit and in truth. “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?” Psalm 85:6.  “Then we will not turn away from you; revive us, and we will call on your name.” Psalm 80:18. “Come, let us return to the LORD. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds. After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence.” Hosea 6:1-2

On the last and third day of our Prayer and Fasting, let us participate in the Prayer Walk calling upon the Lord to in His mercy, rise up and fight our battles for us. “Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.” Psalm 24:7-8. The Lord Strong and mighty, the lord mighty in battle has promised that, “I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Matthew 16:18. “I know that the LORD saves his anointed; he answers him from his Holy Heaven with the saving power of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.” Psalm 20:6-8. “There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD. The. horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD.” Proverbs 21:30-31

Our trust must remain firmly only in the Lord our God. The Lord God almighty be with us all In Jesus’ name; Amen.
