Whatever power, authority, or accomplishment anyone may have, the fact that we are mortals, and our life span is short mocks such accomplishments. Autocratic rulers in the past and others today are approached by their subjects with greetings such as “long live the king” or “live forever.” Everyone knows that the dignitary, no matter how good and benevolent he might be, will die soon, but they still wish him long life. It is only a wish. God, our true King, is eternal. He has always been and will continue to be. God is immortal and will never die like the earthly kings and leaders. He is invisible since He is Spirit, yet we see, feel, and experience Him in everything He created. Best of all, He lives in the hearts of those who have welcomed Him. Therefore, we have the joyful privilege of declaring His praiseworthiness and giving Him all the honor and glory that belongs to Him alone.
