Love Beyond Measure

by

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us Rom. 5:8

As I reflect during this passion week, I am amazed about God’s sacrificial love for a rebel and worthless sinner like me. What made God give up His perfect, sinless, one and only Son to die for me? Why will Jesus Christ willingly endure the cruel, painful, and slow death on the cross for someone not worth a dime? No answer on earth can fully explain this grace. But did we return God the favor? Not at all! Like the disciples, even after being with Jesus for three years, Judas betrayed Him, Peter denied Him, and the rest of the disciples ran away. For Judas, thirty pieces of silver were enough for him to give up on Jesus. Today, we are giving up on Jesus to keep some friends, to fit into the mainstream of our society. For others, the pull of licentious life is too strong to resist, etc. But we must ask ourselves: How valuable is God’s love to you? How much is your love for God? How much do you love the people He died for?
