God created humans in his image to share eternity with Him in perfect harmony – this is grace. However, we rebelled and fell from grace to grass and became slaves of Satan with the consequence of spending eternity in hell with our new boss. However, grace showed up again in the person of Jesus Christ, who went to the slave market and paid the full price for our redemption. We switched bosses and became servants (slaves) of Christ. The news became good: “I no longer call you servants … I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you” (John 15:15). The news got better: “So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir” (Gal. 4:7). The best news: “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! … Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is” (1 John 3:1-2). Until then, keep living by grace!
