But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times. Micah 5:2
God specializes in creating things out of nothing and taking small and insignificant things and making them great. Out of nothing God created all things visible and invisible. God chose the small and insignificant nation of Israel and made it the most renown nation on earth through which the incarnate God came and revealed Himself to humanity.
God chose Bethlehem, the least clan in the tribe of Judah to be the birthplace of our Savior. God never looks for significant people or place to put a stamp on what He does, rather, He puts His stamp on the insignificant and make them great. God by-passed the palace and temple and directed the angel and angelic choir to announce the birth of Christ to a handful of insignificant shepherds.
Do you feel insignificant and left behind in the race of life as the world defines it? Take heart, God has already promoted you to be His son/daughter and a joint heir with Jesus Christ. You own all things with Jesus. Paul said that it was in his weakness that God’s mighty power came through for him. Think of who you are in Christ and all that He has done and will do for you in the future. God has indeed made insignificant people like you and me great. O come let us adore Him!
