by Joshua and Joanna | (SIM/ECWA/ACF) | "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.” Romans 1:16-17. Greetings from Fort Mill where, like many others across the United States, we enjoyed the Solar Eclipse yesterday. Trust that those in its paths were able to see some of it. What a wonder working God we serve!
Thank you for praying for our International Leadership Team (ILT) and Board of Governors (BOG) meetings. They both went well and everyone has returned safely to their destinations for which we praise God.
We would like to let you know that the BOG voted unanimously last Monday to reappoint Joshua for a second term as SIM International Director, subject to the votes of SIM members mission-wide. We thank God for giving us the privilege to serve Him and His people and are grateful to the BOG members for their trust in and support for Joshua. We pray that He who called Him will continue to empower him and give him boldness to carry on with the Gospel of Christ unashamedly.
We also thank all our supporters for your prayers, encouragement and financial support. Without you, we will not be able to do what we do. Please continue to keep us in prayer as we focus now on what the next five to six years may look like and trust the Lord to lead us forward.
Joshua left yesterday afternoon for Bogota, Columbia for COMIBAM conference. This is a mission conference of Spanish speaking mission organizations. It will be for this week and he will be back on Saturday. On Friday, he will be giving a seminar on the topic "Sending missionaries from context of poverty and fragility (weakness). Please pray that the Lord will use him to bless the participants.
We were happy to have Jochebed home from San Francisco this past weekend and we had a great family time. We all went to Carowinds Amusement Park courtesy of free tickets which Joel received from working there over the summer. A family friends' daughter, Nifemi, who is Jochebed's friend, also went with us.
Please praise God and give thanks for:
- the successful meetings
- the safety in travels
- the reappointment
- our prayer and financial partners
- a very supportive home church – http://www.harvestrockhill.org/
Prayers:
- Joel returned to University of South Carolina on Saturday for his Sophomore year and Jochebed returned to San Francisco to continue work. Please pray that God will protect them, keep their hearts focused on him and grant them wisdom in their different fields of lives.
- Pray that the Lord will bless the conference.
- Pray for safe travel for Joshua and the other participants at the end of the conference.
- On Joshua's return, we plan to take a week of vacation to get a much-needed rest from the busy past few weeks. Pray that it will be a refreshing time and that we will be renewed spiritually.
- Pray for the leading and guidance of the Lord as we step into another term.
Thank you very much for your on going prayer, love, encouragement and support.
