Football is king in Africa and with one of the continent’s own among the stars going into the Champions League final, Africa is united behind Liverpool against Real Madrid. Mohamed Salah has set Africa’s social media buzzing, and even fans of Real Madrid find themselves torn.
Liverpool’s star player was forced to end his appearence in the Champions League final early after he suffered an injury in the first half. He took the long march off the pitch after a crunching tackle from Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos.
Reds fans have taken to Twitter to reveal their sadness after the beloved star’s immense performances in the tournament.
Mo himself looked tearful as he left the pitch, and fans in the stadium also appeared to be welling up in the stands.
Liverpool is gunning for its sixth European cup in the match in Kiev.
Adam Lallana was the man chosen by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to replace Salah. Salah tried to carry on after suffering the shoulder injury but in the end he was forced off. Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson was worried about the injury. He said: “You cannot understate the size of the blow to Liverpool of Salah coming off.“
