ECWA Weekly Spiritual Digest: Lost Opportunity

by

by Rev. Sunday Bwanhot | The number 1 loser is Judas Iscariot. One of the twelve disciples who walked with Jesus for over 3 years, preached and performed miracles. He was even Treasurer of their organization. He betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver, but lost his opportunity by refusing to repent.

The first Easter, like the volatile Stock Market closed with some big-time losers and winners. This week, we will focus on the losers picking 3 to start with. The number 3 loser is Pilate. As Governor he personally tried Jesus Christ and heard the truth from Him. He refused to take his wife’s warning not to do anything with that righteous Man. He asked a good question: What is Truth? but did not wait to hear the answer. He washed his hands saying he was innocent of the blood of Jesus. Sadly, he violated his conscience and handed Jesus over to be crucified.

The number 2 loser is Caiaphas. He was the High Priest that year.  His errors were many: He was more concerned about peace than truth. He loved his position and did not want the Romans to sack him or let him go to use today’s terminology. He rightly prophesied that one person will die for the people (John 11:50) but that did not help him. Bottom line is that he was envious of Jesus and missed the opportunity to be saved.

The number 1 loser is Judas Iscariot. One of the twelve disciples who walked with Jesus for over 3 years, preached and performed miracles. He was even Treasurer of their organization. He betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver, but lost his opportunity by refusing to repent. He hanged himself. There were other big-time losers like Herod, Satan, etc.

Since we all learn from past mistakes, my prayer is that no one living today should repeat the errors discussed in this digest and miss the opportunity of coming to Christ to be saved. Jesus was raised from the grave, paving the way for us to have a new life with Him. HAPPY EASTER!
