Keep The Main Thing The Main Thing!

And will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word. Acts 6:4

prayer and the ministry of the word
As a Christian, it is important to focus on the most important things, and the other things will fall into place.

In some circumstances keeping the main thing the main thing is easier said than done. Nevertheless, we must keep on striving in the right direction and not give up. The apostles apparently picked up the right priorities of life and ministry from Jesus Christ and when a crisis moment came, they decisively opted to keep the priority of Prayer and Ministry of the Word over all other competing agendas.

The priority of Prayer and the Word is not only for leaders but for every Christian. Prayer and the Word are like the two sides of a coin. Without one side, the coin is of no value. Christianity is not a set of “dos” and “don’ts” but rather a relationship between God and His children. This relationship thrives and is sustained by the communion between the two. God speaks to us through His Word and we respond back to Him in prayer – talking to Him about the same things He is telling us. God is eager to tell us so much more about ourselves, others, and different situations we are dealing with daily. Our part then is to pray and ask Him for strength and resources needed to do what He has revealed to us.

The more time one spends with the Lord in Prayer and the Word, the better that person is equipped to live for Him and do His will. We must wait on the Lord, walk with Him before we can work for Him.
