I greet you all in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I give God the Glory for the grace to see another Bingham University Sunday. It is indeed a testament to your unflinching support that the University continues to make significant strides on so many fronts.
The University currently operates a total of 64 academic programs, with 46 established in the last 4 years. The University has also received both NUC and Professional accreditation for the Faculty of law, MBBS program, Nursing Sciences among many others.
The University has so far graduated over 300 Medical Doctors and It is about to graduate its first set of Pharmacy, Law and Nursing students.
The University also recently emerged 47th in the National Universities Commission (NUC) ranking for all Nigerian Universities and 8th in terms of efficiency.
In our bid to Increase access to the University for ECWA members, the Board of Trustees of the University, which I chair has approved scholarship schemes which provides scholarships ranging from 15%-40%. The maximum 40%, being for indigent ECWA students.
I wish to thank you all for your generosity and contributions so far towards ensuring that these successes are achieved but more still needs to be done to ensure that Bingham University sustains the tempo in order to achieve its Vision: “to become a world class University in knowledge and skills, while inculcating moral and spiritual values; and Mission: “to produce graduates that are excellent in knowledge, character and skills for self-reliance and in the fear of Christ.”
You will recall that the University had being battling with huge financial liabilities to the tune of N7 billion. I am glad to Inform you that about half of the liabilities have being settled.
Despite the huge financial liabilities some efforts have been made in the construction of roads, hostels, class rooms and additional offices.
Regardless of the successes, the University has continued to encounter challenges especially In Infrastructural deficit. The University is very much in need of additional hostels to cope with the increasing number of students being admitted yearly, class rooms and office spaces as more programs have come on stream.
The University needs more laboratory buildings and equipment, construction and rehabilitation of road networks, perimeter fencing of the University, and beautification of the University as well as general maintenance of all structures.
In the light of the above, it is necessary to appeal to you once again to continue to generously contribute towards the development of Bingham University giving that the University belongs to us all and has potentials to grow and make an indelible mark in the life of our students.
As we reflect on what the Lord is doing in Bingham University, I seek your kind support to raise the required funds so that we as a Church can provide the needed infrastructure to put the University on a sound footing for generations yet unborn.
Therefore, brethren, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:58).
On behalf of the University, I thank you for your contributions and implore you not to get weary of supporting the University.
God’s blessings.
