Why God Blesses People

by

May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us—so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. Ps. 67:1-2

Why God Blesses People

To bless someone is to pronounce what you desire for that person. Jacob and Moses blessed the twelve tribes of Israel, which was prophetic. In many other situations, the blessings are just wishful desires, as has become the norm among many pastors today. When God blesses anyone, the pronouncement will come to pass. Everyone wants God to bless them, but what is in our minds is to prosper and have a good life. God’s blessings are not primarily for personal benefit. God blesses us so that we can be a blessing to others. Israel was blessed so that all nations would know God through them. The Church is blessed so that it will fulfill the same purpose – make His salvation known and people worship Him. God has blessed you already, even though you may be desiring more. How are you making God and His salvation known to those around you?
