I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted. Job 42:2
God is transcendent and beyond knowledge. All that a human being can know about God is so infinitesimal that it amounts to almost nothing. Even this miniscule knowledge is only possible as God reveals Himself to us. Many claim to know God, Christians, and non-Christians alike, yet our lives show the contrary. No one can know God and remain unchanged.
Job was an upright man as God testified about him and even Satan acknowledged that. Job knew God, but being human, he knew truly little. He did not understand why a righteous man like him would go through suffering as he did without God stepping in to deliver him or at least explain why.
Job asked the question many still ask today: why do bad things happen to good people?
God answered Job by asking him a lot of questions that covered 4 chapters (Job 38-41). The result? Job could not answer even one question.
But those questions revealed much about God that Job did not know. Armed with this new knowledge, Job concluded in our verse for today that everything happening on earth is as God ordained or allowed it and nothing can change that.
Job’s response is revealed in verse 5-6: “My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you. Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.” When we question God, it reveals our ignorance of Him.
*URGENT: Pray for the release of 5 ECWA members that went on a mission trip from Kaduna to Kogi State, Nigeria and were kidnapped early Sunday morning. 93 people accepted Christ and were baptized, before these evil people stormed the house they were lodging and kidnapped them. A close friend of mine is among those kidnapped and they are asking for about 75 million Naira ($180,000.00) as ransom.
