by Rev. Sunday Bwanhot | Wisdom is the perfect action plan to live here on earth in view of eternity ahead of us and employing discipline to live this plan out. Living primarily for things that are of no eternal value and will perish eventually is not living with wisdom.
None of us was involved in the decision to be born into this world. Your opinion was not sought, you had no input regarding your race, parents, the town you were to be born and other circumstances surrounding your birth. God decided all of that using your dad and mom to knit you in your mother’s womb. Equally mysterious is your life’s end. God alone knows when, where and how your life will end here on earth. You have no control over that. How we live the brief and unknown period of time between birth and death will determine where and how we will spend eternity
Know with certainty that death is not the end of life; it is a transition from this earthly temporary life to the life that is eternal. It is not surprising then that the Psalmist prayed: “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Ps. 90:12. Wisdom is the perfect action plan to live here on earth in view of eternity ahead of us and employing discipline to live this plan out.
Living primarily for things that are of no eternal value and will perish eventually is not living with wisdom. Consider this: apart from God, His Word and the Souls of men, all other things we pursue and acquire to give us security, comfort and happiness here on earth are temporal and we will have to leave them behind.
Will wisdom not call us to live here on earth primarily for the things that are eternal? I believe so! Lord, give us wisdom today. Amen!
