“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be still.” Exodus 14:14.
Maybe you just lost a battle or perhaps you are going through one right now and God does not seem to be fighting for you. Rightly you wonder if God’s promise is true or if it is due to your lack of faith as you might have been instructed elsewhere. Our God is a mighty Warrior, a strong Fortress, our Deliverer and Savior. God’s promises are either specific like:
The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be still. Ex. 14:14
or general like the following:
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.” Ps. 34:7; “But not a hair of your head will perish.” Luke 21:18
You cannot claim a specific promise if your name is not on it. Exodus 14:14 was a promise God made specifically to Moses and the Israelites after they left Egypt. God instructed Moses that He will harden Pharaoh’s heart and he will pursue the Israelites which will lead to the destruction of the Egyptian army. The Israelites will not have to fight; and that was what happened. For the general promises, we can pray and claim them but will have to keep on praying until God says Yes or No.
Stephen and James were not delivered; Peter and Paul were delivered several times. Real deliverance is submission to God’s will whether we experience physical deliverance or not. It results in peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
